Routing with multiple QoS requirements for supporting multimedia applications

چکیده
Distributed multimedia applications usually require multiple QoS performance guarantees. However, in general, searching such a route in the network, to support multimedia applications, is known to be NP-complete. In this paper, we propose a new heuristic QoS routing algorithm, called “QoSRDKS”, for supporting multimedia applications in high-speed networks. QoSRDKS is a modification of rule-based Fallback routing and Dijkstra algorithms. It can search a unicast route that would have enough network resources so that multiple QoS requirements (bandwidth, delay, and delay jitter) of the requested flow could be guaranteed. Its worst case computation time complexity is the same as that of the Dijkstra algorithm, i.e., O(|V |), where |V | is the number of nodes in the network. Extensive simulations were done with various network sizes, upto 500 nodes networks, where each node uses Weighted Fair Queueing (WFQ) service discipline. Results show that QoSRDKS is very efficient. It could always find the QoS satisfying route, whenever there exists one (success rate is optimal), and its average computation time is near to simple shortest path Dijkstra algorithm.

Performance Analysis of Node-Disjoint Multipath Routing for Mobile Ad-hoc Networks based on QoS
Recently, quality-of-service routing in dynamic, wireless multi-hop ad hoc networks becomes a hot research topic, and various QoS protocols are proposed Even so, popular QoS routing protocols rarely provide multiple routes. Once links break due to node mobility, establishment of new routes leads to large control overhead and more end-to-end delay. In MANETs to support multimedia applications su...
متن کاملSERVICE PRIORITIZATION IN NODE-DISJOINT ROUTING FOR AD HOC NETWORKS BASED ON QoS
Ad hoc network (MANET) is a collection of mobile nodes that can communicate with each other without using any fixed infrastructure. To support multimedia applications such as video and voice MANETs require an efficient routing protocol and quality of service (QoS) mechanism. Node-Disjoint Multipath Routing Protocol (NDMR) is a practical protocol in MANETs: it reduces routing overhead dramatical...
متن کاملMulti-Constrained QoS Routing Issues in High- Speed Multimedia Networks
HighSpeed Multimedia Networks (HSMN) have diverse Quality of Service (QoS) requirements. Designing QoS routing protocols that optimizes multiple QoS requirements is one of the major issues in these networks. Traditional routing algorithms are not adequate to handle QoS requirements of real-time multimedia applications. QoS Routing is defined as finding paths satisfying multiple QoS constraints....
متن کاملQuality-of-Service Routing for Supporting Multimedia Applications
In recent years, several new architectures have been developed for supporting multimedia applications such as digital video and audio. However, quality of service routing is an important element that is still missing from these architectures. In this paper we consider a number of issues in QoS routing. We first examine the basic problem of QoS routing, namely, finding a path that satisfy multip...
متن کاملCore-based Routing with QoS Support for Distributed Interactive Multimedia Applications
Distributed interactive multimedia applications such as video conferencing and virtual collaboration applications typically involve frequent interactions among multiple distributed parties. These applications require an efficient networking support such as core-based routing with Quality of Service (QoS) support. Typical core-based routing selects one router as a core for a multicast group and ...
